Are you looking for freelance writing work and running out of ideas? Other than combing through my freelance writing jobs page here, or reviewing other popular freelance writing websites, there is a quick and easy way to find freelance writing gigs using your email box!I stumbled upon this simple little “trick” not too long ago while setting up alerts for my business Taylor Resources Writing. It’s called Google Alerts and it’s something you will also get addicted to like I am!

To find freelance writing jobs using Google Alerts, you have to first understand how people write job advertisements for freelance writers. Generally speaking, when a company wants to hire a writer, they will write something that includes the following phrases:

Hiring Writers

Seeking Writers

Write for Us

Get Paid to Write

You get the idea, right? So using Google Alerts, you can turn your email address into a freelance writing job search agent! Here’s how you do this:

1. Set up a Gmail account if you don’t already have one.

2. Go to Google Alerts

3. Create a new Google Alert

4. Make sure to include parenthesis around your search phrase, eg. “Write for us”

5. Designate how often you want an alert sent to your email box (once a day is probably enough)

6. Choose “Everything”

7. Sit back and watch the email alerts come in with new writing opportunities!
